Jim Cochran, 82 of rural Adel, passed peacefully at home on Sept. 14, 2017. He was ready to meet his Lord, giving his heart to Jesus at an early age and faithfully following Him all his life.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 18 at New Hope Evangelical Free Church near Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call after Noon Sunday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.

He married his high school sweetheart Nellie J. Dymond on Dec 12, 1954, they were blessed by nearly 63 years of marriage.

Jim was always a farmer at heart. He was born on the homestead he farmed with his parents and siblings, moving back to the family farm in his early adult life. Jim stepped into eternity just a few feet from his birth place. Jim’s passion for feeding the world never faded, eventually passing on the farming operations to the next generation. Some of his sons and grandkids continue farming today. Jim was always anxious to help them any way he could.

He is survived by his wife Nellie, sons David (Aleta), Dennis (Ann), Steve (Denise), Ron (Eve) all of rural Adel.

He had nine grandkids; Chris (Michelle), Randy (Jody), Amy (Adam) McLaughlin, Jason (Ellen), Joel (fiancé Sherry), Debra (Michael) Townsend, Laura, Emily (fiancé Terrell Allen), and Josh (fiancé Ashley), six great grandkids Kalie, Devon, Mason, Emmy, Nate, & Tierney all of which brought great joy to his life and he was so proud of each one.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Redfield first responders or New Hope Church Adel. Online condolences can be left at mccalleyfuneralhome.com
