Daniel E. Brown, 82, of Waukee formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday December 17, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the funeral home.

Survivors include his sons, Rodney D. Brown and his wife Terri of Urbandale; David E. Brown of Fort Dodge; Tim C. Brown of Georgetown, KY; Joseph E. Brown and his wife Jamie of Fountain Hills, AZ; daughter, Francie A. Victor and her husband John of Urbandale; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, "Moe" Raymond Maurice Brown of Colorado Springs, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary (Mallinger) Brown; wife Beatrice E. Brown, son, Michael J. Brown; brothers, Joseph E. Brown, John Wilmer Brown, and Walter F. Brown.

Daniel Leo Brown was born on December 21, 1929 in Duncombe. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1948. On August 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Clausen in Duncombe at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dan and Beatrice made their home in Duncombe. Dan worked for Iowa Auto Supply from 1950 to 1956; then he was a partner in National Auto Parts from 1956 to 1979. In 1976, the couple moved to Fort Dodge. He was involved in the estate business from 1979 to 1989. In 1989, Dan became an insurance agent with Principal Insurance for over 20 years retiring in July of 2012. He was the past Mayor of Duncombe and a past president of the St. Edmond School Board.

Dan was an auction hunter and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed coin collecting, playing cards, Vegas trips, and especially his dog, Murphy. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee.

Memorials may be left to Holy Trinity Parish or Fort Dodge St. Edmond Catholic School System.
