Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
August 30, 1956

One of the oldest members of the Zion Lutheran church departed this life in the Dexter Clinic Sunday evening, August 19th. Death came to him just one day before his 85th birthday. He was born in Des Moines on August 20th, 1871 where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Following his graduation from grade school he found employment on the railroad.

On March 6th, 1894 he was married to Anna Voss of Adair, his surviving widow. The couple made their home in Des Moines where the deceased worked for many years as a stock clerk for the Crane Company. In the year 1936 he moved with his wife to a home in Dexter to live the years of his retirement. One child was born to this union, Carl Weisbrod, presently living in Adel. Other surviving members include an aged sister, Mrs. Richie Brown of Charleston, South Carolina, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren. He was a kind and considerate husband and father, a good neighbor and a loyal Lutheran, who walked humbly with his God.

Funeral services were held in the Zion Lutheran church Tuesday, August 21st with Rev. A. C. Weber officiating. Funeral hymns were sung by the church quartette, with Miss Zelda Clausen at the organ. Casket bearers were: Fred Scar, Norman Scar, Henry Benz, F. D. Clausen, Adolph Jobst, and Paul Clausen. Roy Evans was the funeral director and his body was laid to rest in the Dexter cemetery.
