Louis Hill, Dexter Died Wednesday

Word was received Wednesday morning of the death of Louis Hill of Dexter, who suffered a heart attack a few days ago.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; two daughters, Mrs. Martha (Joe) Smith of Earlham and Mrs. Marjorie McMullen of Redfield; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Hill and his brother, James of Dexter, and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were not completed at press time.

Lewis Elmer Hill was born on a farm near Coal City, Illinois, March 28, 1894 and passed away at the Dexter Clinic August 19th, 1959 at the age of 65 years, four months and 20 days. His parents names were Joel and Margaret Hill. At the age of 14 years he moved with his parents to a farm 2 ½ miles east of Dexter. On March 11th, 1914 he was united in marriage with Cora Fett of Dexter. The young couple established their first home on a farm south of Dexter. Two children were born to this union. He was engaged in farming most of his life. In 1941 he moved to the town of Dexter purchased an oil station and which he continued until the time of his death.

In the year 1917 the deceased became a member of the Zion Lutheran church by Sacrament of Holy Baptism and the rite of confirmation. He remained a loyal, active member of the church until his death.

Surviving mourners are his wife, Cora, his daughters, Martha (Joe) Smith of Earlham and Mrs. Marjorie (Clyde) McMullen of Redfield, his mother, Mrs. Margaret Hill and brother, James of Dexter.

Services were held Friday afternoon, August 21 at the Lutheran church at Dexter. Music was furnished by Mrs. LaVerne Black, Mrs. Howard Benz, Leonard Scar and Roger Weber. Flowers were by Mesdames Max Mount, Paul Willrich and Harold Schwenneker. Casket bearers were: Bert Jobst, Gary Wells, F. D. Clausen, Richard Clausen, Virgil Clements and Russell Horn. Interment was at Dexter.
