Heart Trouble Claims Life of Well Known Citizen; Funeral Held Saturday Afternoon.
Charles Hummel, for years a well known resident of De Soto passed away June 28 at his home there. Death was due to heart trouble. He was 69 years, 13 days old.
The youngest son of Lewis and Lucinda Hummel, the deceased was born near Monroe, Iowa June 28, 1865. On March 18, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie McClintock, and to this union three children were born, two sons and a daughter. One son, Floyd, preceded his father in death two years ago. Those left to mourn Mr. Hummel’s going are the wife, son Earl of De Soto and daughter Mrs. Helda Dollen of Neola, Iowa, besides many other relatives and close friends.
Services for Mr. Hummel were conducted Saturday afternoon at the De Soto Christian Church, where he had been a member for 30 years, Rev. W. M. Feay, pastor of the Earlham Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in the De Soto cemetery.
