MRS. L. L. NEALLEY IS BURIED AT ADEL

Former Earlham Resident Passed Away At The Home of Her Sons in Des Moines.

Mrs. L. L. Nealley, former resident of this community, but in later years had made her home in Des Moines was buried last Wednesday in Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Mrs. Nealley has been ill for a number of years, but it was only last week that she succumbed to the disease that had caused her untold suffering the latter part of her life.

Sarah Lucinda Lingenfelter was born in Indiana on April 29, 1873 and passed on to her reward June 11th, 1934 at the home of her sons in Des Moines.

On January 25th, 1898 she was married to Ludlow L. Nealley of De Soto and to this union were born three children, Esther, Marlin and Cleo.

From a child Mrs. Nealley’s life was not made of easy paths, her mother leaving her an orphan at the age of eight years, then hard work as a young girl breaking her health for her entire life.

During the last five or six years she was confined mostly to her rooms with suffering, silently waiting, hoping for the return of her health.

On December 28, 1931 her husband and constant companion left her to bear the hours of hopefulness and despair alone. And since then her health has been steadily growing worse until she was confined to her room and the last three months to bed.

When she knew the end was near she did not complain but spoke often of her desire to go and that she was ready.

She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter Esther Cook of Browntown, Wisconsin, two sons Marlin and Cleo Nealley of Des Moines, two step-daughters, Mae Chestnutwood of De Soto, Iowa and Lena Nesbitt of Adel, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one sister Minnie Masterson of Walla Walla, Washington and one brother Will of Rock Island, Illinois.

She was laid to rest beside her husband at Oak Dale Cemetery at Adel June 6th, 1934.
