Earlham Echo - Earlham, Iowa
March 27, 1924

Maude May Emerson, daughter of Frank and Belle Emerson, was born February 2, 1888, at Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa and passed from this life at her home in Dallas Co., March 21, 1924, aged 36 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Her early life was spent in and around Clarence and at the age of twelve she came with her parents to DeSoto, Dallas County. Here she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to H. A. Nesbitt on Aug. 3, 1904. To this union two sons, Riley Merle and Ralph Emerson were born.

Hers was a sunny, cheerful disposition. Home was her throne, she the queen thereof. Nothing was allowed to mar the even tenor of the home where she reigned supreme, because it meant so much to her.

Of a quiet, retiring, unassuming disposition when in public, nevertheless, to all who knew her there was shown that calm strength at means so much amid the trials and difficulties of life. As her husband so fittingly said she was all that a conscientious, faithful, loving wife and mother could be. Always a loyal attendant at church when situated so that she could attend, the principles of the master were hers.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and the two sons; her father and step-mother; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Emerson of DeSoto; one brother, Roy; one step-brother and one step-sister of DeSoto. Her only sister preceded her to the Great Beyond thirteen years ago.

Besides these near relatives, there are many others and a host of friends who mourn her departure.
