John Thomas, son of Washington and Susan Alkire, died on Sunday, October 14, 1900, after a lingering illness with lung trouble. He was born July 20, 1877, and consequently was in his twenty-third year. The funeral services was held in the McKibben school house on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. William Best, after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of his mother in the McKibben cemetery.
