Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
October 11, 1900

Anna, daughter of Thomas E. and Mary H. Ridgway, was born near Bear Creek, Dallas county, Iowa, February 16, 1883, and died October 6, 1900, aged 17 years, 7 months and 20 days, and was laid to rest by the side of her father in Bear Creek cemetery on the afternoon of the 8th. Her funeral was largely attended by sympathizing friends and neighbors.

When told that death’s Angel was near she said: “I am not afraid,” and called her friends around her bedside and gave to each a parting message.

Her farewell words were: “Meet me there.” She requested her love be given to absent relatives and friends, then said “If I leave spoken to all in the room my work is done; now let me rest a little.” In a few moments, with a smile upon her face she fell asleep in Jesus. And as we gaze upon her saint like face, so beautiful in death, we felt that blessed assurance that she is forever with the Lord. Her life has been one of loving words and deeds, always thoughtful of those around her. It can truly be said that her life was one lived with Christ.
