Ruth Ann (Bingman) Mendenhall, widow of Richard B. Mendenhall, died Monday morning, after an illness of some two weeks, aged 66 years, 2 months, and 10 days. She was born in Surry county, North Carolina, and with her husband immigrated to Iowa in 1855, enduring the hardships of pioneer life in Iowa. She leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother. She also leaves one lone sister, Mrs. Jasper Benson.

Mrs. Mendenhall has been a member of the United Brethren in Christ for more than a quarter of a century, holding her membership at the Pleasant Hill church on the Kennedy Charge. Her funeral sermon was preached by the Presiding Elder of the church in Des Moines district, Rev. W. F. Cronk, of Toledo, Iowa.

The services were held in the Bear Creek Friends Church after which the remains were interred in the Bear Creek cemetery beside her husband, who entered the gateway of death some three years ago.
