Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
June 1904

Raymond, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Andrew was born in Casey, Iowa, May 4, 1890, and died June 20, 1904, aged 14 years, 1 month and 16 days. Being reared in the atmosphere of a Christian home and under instruction of Christian parents he early evidenced a desire for spiritual things and at the age of twelve years he publicly owned Christ as his Savior, to whom he proved faithful to the date of his decease.

His sickness was attended with intense suffering which was borne without a murmur and the earnest efforts put forth for his comfort were met with a smile of appreciation.

The last morning of his earthly life be became conscious that his time here was short and calling his parents, brothers and sisters to his bed said: “I want to talk with you now for I may not be able when I go.” And with words of comfort for aching hearts he spoke of his very bright prospects and the joy he now possessed and there with the family kneeling about his bed he most earnestly pled for the presence of the Savior in the most trying hour and a blessing for each loved one, and then called for the hymn, “Nearer My God to Thee.”

He leaves a father, mother, two brothers and five sisters with a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held last Wednesday and interment was in Bear Creek cemetery.
