After an illness lasting more than two months, Mrs. Elkanah Cook passed to her reward Sunday evening, March 27. Services were held in the Friends church Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. Wright. Her remains were laid at rest in Bear Creek cemetery.

Elizabeth A. Walton was born in Green county, Ohio, July 15, 1836, and at the time of her death was aged 67 years, 8 months and 12 days. She moved with her parents to Indiana in 1851, and from there to Dallas county, Iowa, in 1854.

She was married to Elkanah Cook November 22, 1856. To this union was born 7 children, 5 of whom with the husband, survive her. One child died in infancy and the other Debrah C. Dailey, departed this life July 29, 1892. She was also the mother of 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a birthright member of Friends and has all through her life lived a quiet, consistent Christian. She took great comfort in the verse, “In my Father’s home are many mansions.” During her illness which lasted for more than two months, she often spoke of her home beyond and longed to be at rest. On Sunday evening, March 27, the summons came.
