Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
April 7, 1904

Died, April 3, 1904, at the residence of W. L. Ramsey, Bathsheba, wife of John Ramsey.

Her parents were George and Elizabeth Bowles. She was born in Wayne county, Ind., August 26, 1824. During her childhood they removed to Marion county, Ind., where she was married to Elihu Sanders in 1843. They resided on the same farm on which they first settled until after her husband’s death. To this union was born nine children, three of whom survive her, two sons in Idaho and one daughter in Kansas; the latter with one granddaughter and one niece were present to watch by her bedside, and with loving hands administer to her last needs. In the year 1870 she removed to Iowa and was married to John Ramsey on the 11th of March, 1880, who survives her.

She was taken sick on the 23d inst. and after eleven days of severe suffering passed away as above stated. Throughout her illness not a murmur escaped her lips, giving evidence of a lively hope of a home in a better world.

The family hereby express their feelings of gratitude to their friends and neighbors for their kindness in this affliction.

Transcriber’s note: Burial was made in the Bear Creek cemetery, Dallas county, Iowa.
