William Harrison Allen was born in Leesville, Ind. on August 18,1844 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Swallow in Booneville, Iowa, on January 10,1935 at the age of ninety years, four months and twenty-three days.

On April 4,1867 he was married to Martha Wray at Leesville, Ind. To this union were born twelve children, ten of whom are living, two having died in infancy. Mrs. Allen preceded him in death seven years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen, with their older children, came to Booneville in 1881, making the trip in a covered wagon. He has lived in and around Booneville since that time, except for a few short visits in Nebraska and Dakota.

Mr. Allen was a member of the Christian church. having been baptized about forty-five years ago, and always remained a member of that church. The last three years he has been an invalid cared for by his family.

He leaves to mourn his passing ten children: Mrs. Laura Davis of Booneville; Art Allen of Adel; Mrs. Florence Hoeye and Mrs. Flora Swallow of Booneville; Mrs. Gertrude Ireland of Garrison, N.D., Albert Allen of Dallas, Iowa, Thos. Allen and Robert Allen of Booneville, Mrs. Rose Graham of Des Moines, and Harry Allen of Booneville; Also forty-nine grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many friends.

His funeral was held from the M. E. church at Booneville Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Elliott and Rev. Peterson. The music was in charge of Mrs. Clarence Westland and Mrs. Max Gutshall, accompanied by Mrs. Ray at the piano. Burial was in the Booneville cemetery.
