O. W. "Red" Martin
March 18, 1907 - February 23, 1979

O. W. Martin, son of Calvin and Mable Turner Martin, was born March 18, 1907 in Oakland, Iowa. He passed away suddenly at his home in Dexter on February 23, 1979.

"Red" as his friends called him, was united in marriage on April 20, 1935 to Agnes McMullen in Des Moines. Since their marriage they have resided at 817 Freeman Street in Dexter.

Through the years "Red" operated a service station, was co-owner of the Elms Cafe, farmed and owned and operated a trucking business. In June, 1978, he retired from his trucking business.

"Red" was a former member of the Dexter Fire Department and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Mt. Tabor Lodge No. 293 of Dexter.

"Red" was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He liked people and always had time to say hello.

Survivors include his beloved wife Agnes; son, Byron, daughter-in-law Sue and grandson Joshua, of West Des Moines; brother, Wayne Martin of Storm Lake; sister, Iola Warner of Shelby; and a host of relatives and friends.

Burial was in the Dexter cemetery.
