John R. Hadley
December 22, 1913 - February 8, 1989

John R. Hadley, son of Charles E. and Grace (Harris) Hadley, was born December 22, 1913 in Dallas County, Redfield, Iowa.

He was a birthright member of the Bear Creek Friends Church.

John graduated from Redfield High School in 1932. He returned and took a postgraduate course in Normal training.

On April 19, 1958 he was united in marriage to Maxine Schell and they made their home in Dexter, Iowa. John and Maxine celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1983.

In January of 1964 John and Maxine took Maxine's nephew, Richard Wolfe, to care for after the death of his parents in an automobile accident.

John farmed with his brother Ober in the Bear Creek and Dexter areas until they retired in 1983.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #419. John and Maxine were voted Senior Citizens of the Year during the Bonnie and Clyde Days Celebration.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Freemont and a sister, Myrle Coulter. He is survived by his wife Maxine, Richard and wife Peggy, two grandchildren; Stephen and Kathy Wolfe, sister Helen Hadley and brother Ober, also many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Burial was in the Dexter cemetery.
