Services for E. C. (Elving) Gustafson, 66, of Lemmon, SD, retired Production Credit Association executive, were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 1981 in Calvary Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Langehough.

Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Evanson-Jensen Funeral home.
Gustafson died early Friday morning at Five Counties Hospital in Lemmon following a long illness.

He was born May 9, 1915, at Odebolt, where he grew up and graduated from Odebolt High School in 1933.
In 1935 he began his career with the Farm Credit System in Storm Lake. In December 1937 he moved to Lemmon, SD to work from the Belle Fourche-Lemmon Production Credit Association. He was assistant manager of the local PCA until November 1, 1958, when he was elected manager. He retired in 1980. During his tenure Gustafson supervised construction of new PCA offices in Belle Fourche, Lemmon and Timber Lake. He served on many committees for the Omaha District of the PCA.
He married Virginia Ellis June 4, 1940, at Lemmon, SD. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He was active in community as a charter member of the Lemmon Jaycees and as a local and state officer. He was a charter member of the board of the Lemmon Junior Livestock Show and was president for many years. Gustafson held various offices in the Lemmon Country Club. He was a member of the Lemmon Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee and a two term director.

He served as trustee and president of the congregation of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was president, secretary and a director of the Lemmon Lions Club and served as zone chairman and deputy district governor. Gustafson was Lemmon city auditor for 27 years.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia, Lemmon; one son, John Gustafson, and a grandson, both of Ralston, NE; four brothers, Russell, Richard and Arvid of Kiron, and Sidney of Grinnell; and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hoaglund of San Leandro, CA.
