Arthur -- Funeral service for Alfred Gradin, life-time resident of this area, was held last Thursday at the Moore-Christensen Funeral home in Ida Grove. Rev. R. W. Forsman of Arthur officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Ferne Wilson of Kiron; and Rev. and Mrs. Forsman.

Mr. Gradin was born on 13 March 1876 in Hayes township, Ida County. He was the oldest of six children born to Olof and Christine Gradin. He passed away on 24 January 1955 in the home of his sister, Mrs. Kate Peterson, of Arthur, where he had resided for better than the past two years. Mr. Gradin had attained the age of 78 years 10 months and 19 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Oliver; and is survived by three sisters; Mrs. Kate Peterson of Arthur; Mrs C. R. Osbeck of Willmar, Minn.; Martha Gardin of Arthur and one brother, Abram of Cylon, Wisconsin. Interment was at the Hayes township cemetery. Pall bearers were: Arthur Lindsay, Reuben Carlson, Arthur Jacobson, Emil Carlson, Arvid Gustafson and Arthur Palm.
