Glen August Goetsch 1894 - 1972

Glen August Goetsch, son of Henry and Sarah Menching Goetsch was born July 12, 1894 in Harrison county, Iowa and died suddenly at the home of his son Dennis at Chariton on September 16, 1972 at the age of 78 years, two months and four days. Mr. Goetsch was born and raised on a farm at Magnolia and attended rural schools around Kiron.

He was united in marriage to Esther Marie Carlson, on June 6, 1917 at Kiron and farmed there for a number of years. In 1953 they moved to Des Moines. Mr. Goetsch retired in June of 1972 from the Greater Des Moines United Way. He was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, also a member of the Senior Singers.

He is survived by his wife Esther, 2 daughters, Dorothy, Mrs. Ben Heiny of Waukee, and Donna, Mrs. Gage Swanson of Webster City, a daughter in law, Mrs. Maxine Goetsch of Altoona and two sons, Darrell of Fort Worth, Texas and Dennis of Chariton, 12 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dale Francis and three brothers, John, August and Elmer.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Free church in Kiron on Tuesday, September 19, 1972 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Frank Smith officiating.

Interment was made in the Kiron cemetery with the following pallbearers, Arthur Anderson, Wilbur Anderson, Willard Carlson, Russell Gustafson, Kenneth Rasmussen and Ralph Schultz. Huebner Funeral Home was in Charge of the arrangements.
