Margaret Anna Oxendale, 91, of Arthur died Tuesday 16 Feb 1999 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday 19 Feb 1999 at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove with the Rev. Victor Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Hayes Township Cemetery south of Arthur.

Mrs. Oxendale was born 7 Nov 1907 in Ida Grove, the daughter of Adolph Fries and Anna Margaret Iversen. She was raised and educated in Ida Grove. She married Joseph Oxendale on 22 Dec 1927 in Ida Grove. The couple made their residence near Arthur where they farmed for many years. She was a member of Arthur United Methodist Church, Blaine Friendly Neighbors and Golden Girls. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and painting.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Roy Hemer of Arthur; two sons and their wives, John and Ila of Arthur and James and Pat of Ida Grove; a daughter-in-law, Lois Oxendale of Arthur; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister Agnes Gustafson of Odebolt, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Oxendale of Milan, Mo., Lucille Fries of Ida Grove and Helen Oxendale of Odebolt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Roland E.; two sisters, Virginia in infancy and Helen Eng; three brothers, John, William and Adolph Fries; and a great-grand-daughter.
