Francis Peffer, 87, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Accura Healthcare of Ames.

Friends and family are welcome to the interment with U.S. Army military honors at 12:30 p.m., on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Francis Eugene Peffer was born on February 3, 1936 to Alvy and Nina (Anderson) Peffer in Arion, Iowa. He attended Denison Schools. Francis went on to serve a stint in the United States Army and was later honorably discharged. After his time in the service he went to work for K & D Billiards; where he repaired pinball machines and pool tables in Central Iowa for over 15 years. He then went on to work for Great American Fun Factory (GAFF) for the next 10 years. Francis then retired from working full time, but helped out part time at the Hy-Vee bakery in Ames and assisted with custodial duties at the Keystone of Ames apartments, where he lived for over 20 years.

Francis loved to watch golf and football in his free time, along with visiting and enjoying the time spent with his friends at the Keystone of Ames and his family. He was a proud member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his loving children: Vicki Anderson, Patty (Kent) Peffer, Rhonda (Kevin) Larson, Karen (Mark) Peffer, Sharon (Mike) Dean, grandchildren; Justin, Austin, Kelsie, Shayla, and Meranda, great grandchildren; Wyatt and Carson. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Alice Peffer, 2nd and latest wife; Mary Peffer, and granddaughter; Amanda Foley.

Memorials can be designated to family and sent to Ames Monument & Cremation Center, 717 E. Lincoln Way, Ames 50010.
