Marie Alma Magill was born on September 28, 1917, the daughter of William and Theresa Ossenkop Kuhlmann. She died on Tuesday, October 4, 1994 at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of seventy-seven years.

Marie was born on a family farm near Charter Oak. She was baptized a Christian and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. She received her formal education in ST. John's Lutheran School, graduated from the Charter Oak High School with the class of , entered Denison Normal College and after receiving her training she taught grade school near her home.

On May 20, 1939, Marie was united in marriage to Melvin Magill at Jackson, Minnesota. The couple settled on a farm north of Charter Oak and were blessed with the birth of three children. The couple lived on the farm for fifty years.

Marie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, where she dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior by becoming deeply involved with Christian Education, at St. John's for forty years. She was a member of the 500 Club, Silver Spur Riders Association, Farm Bureau, 4-H activities, St. John's Centennial Steering Committee and volunterred her free time to the Annual Cancer Society fund drives. She enjoyed family activities and baking, earning a Betty Crocker award.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1992. Survivors include: one son, William and his wife, Lucia Lincoln of Charter Oak; two daughters, Bonnie Fisher and her husband C.F. of Bettendorf, and Melva Jane Kinney and her husband, Richard of Fort Collins, Colorado; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also two sisters, Esther Kruse of Denison and Florence Hildebrandt of Eventide; one brother, Raymond Kuhlmann of Charter Oak; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 7, 1994 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, with Rev. L.C. Gebhardt and Vicar Glenn Niemann officiating the service and grave side rites held at the St. John's Cemetery in Charter Oak. Art Beeck provided the organ accompaniment and sang ""The Lord's Prayer."" Congregational hymns were: ""Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me"" and ""Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound."" Honorary pallbearers were; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bielfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Schmeider, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Borgstahl, Mr. and Mrs. Harwin Jess, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhlmann Jr., Mr. Elmer Kutschinski, Mrs. Beverly Weiss, Mr. Leslie Baak and Mr. Lee Magill. Pallbearers were; Ronald Paulsen, Alan Kuhlmann, Valgene Kruse, Wayne Elwell, Wayne Henry and Floyd Boger. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them for lunch at the church served by the Ladies Aid.

The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
