Obituary of Peter Hamann.

Peter Hamann was called to rest last Wednesday morning about 7:00 A.M. after spending seven months of his life waiting for his eternal resting time to approach.

Peter Hamann was born at Marne Schleswig-Holstein, January 9, 1837. He grew to young manhood there and in the early sixties came to America. He first settled in Indiana where he worked for the Government, and then went to Chicago where he remained for some time. In 1864 he removed to Davenport where on November 5, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Magdalena Stubble. They settled on a farm there till 1873 and them came further west and settled on a farm in Otter Creek township. He here resided until 1905, when he gave up farming and moved to Schleswig until his death call reached him. Nine children were born to union, three of whom preceded the father to the great beyond. Besides his loving wife he leaves to mourn his death four sons and two daughters namely: John, Julius, Adolph, and Peter, Emma, now Mrs. Schrunkbeck of Ida County and Minnie now Mrs. Wm. Moeller of Otter Creek township also 15 grandchildren and one sister residing in Chicago. Mr. Hamann grew to the old age of 83 years 3 months and 11 days. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon Rev. W. R. Wetzler conducting the service and the remains were laid to rest in Morgan township cemetery.
