Gilbert Braasch, Small Son Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braasch Charter Oak, Died Tuesday

Gilbert Normand Braasch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braasch, was born Oct. 31, 1931 near Charter Oak, and passed away on Sept. 27, 1934, 2 years, 10 months and 27 days. Gilbert was taken to the hospital Sept. 10 and underwent an operation for ruptured appendix at 12 o’clock that night.

The little boy was taken ill on Sunday, complaining of a stomach ache, but was able to play about. On Monday he seemed to have a temperature and still complained of a pain in his stomach, however, at noon time he was able to run to greet his father coming home from the field for dinner.

The parents took him to a doctor in the afternoon, who found nothing serious. Gilbert, however, kept getting worse and in the evening another doctor was tried and he rushed them to the hospital, but upon operating found that the appendix had already ruptured.

He was very ill the first few days and then seemed quite well and high hopes were held for his recovery until the day preceding his death when he took a sudden turn for the worse and passed away greatly relieved from the pain and suffered.

He leaves to mourn his early death his grief stricken parents, one sister, Joan, 6 months old, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Quandt of Charter Oak and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braasch of Germany.

Funeral services were held Saturday with Rev. F.D. Israel of Manilla in charge. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery adjoining the Hanover township Lutheran church.

Gilbert was a loving boy and in turn was loved by all. He was kind and generous with his little playmates, m giving up the last of his play things and was just beginning to enjoy to play with his little sister, Joan.
