MRS. JOHN BLUNK DIED LAST FRIDAY A PIONEER LADY

Mother of Eleven Children Dies at Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. Chas. Kolls

Mrs. John Blunk died Friday, February 21, 1930, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Kolls, in Hanover township. Three years ago she suffered a stroke which left one arm paralyzed. Since that time she has made her home with her various children but has been gradually growing worse but her condition was not alarming until about ten days ago when she grew rapidly worse and death resulted as above stated.

The deceased was one of Crawford county’s pioneer women. She reared a large family and it was her ambition and pleasure to make their lives happy and this ambition and pleasure was largely gratified by the fact that she has witnessed them grow to womanhood and manhood and take their places in life. She loved her friends and was kind and generous to all and her death will cause headaches to many.

Annie Blunk, nee Moeller, was born July 1, 1853, in Ditmarschen-Holstein, Germany, and was 76 years, 5 months and 20 days of age at the time of her death. She came to the United States in May, 1882, locating in Hayes township in this county and later moved to the vicinity of Charter Oak. She became the wife of Mr. John Blunk on December 28, 1876, and to this union were born 11 children, two of whom died in infancy, and John, who died at the age of 23. The living are: Minnie, Mrs. H.W. Boeck, of East Boyer township; Annie, Mrs. Charles Kolls; Mary, Mrs. John Vogt; Dora, Mrs. Max Quandt, all of Hanover township; Emma, Mrs. Henry Vogt of Paradise township; Charles of Charter Oak, Willie of East Boyer, and Emma, Mrs. Grover Grill of Denison. Her husband preceded her in death, having died April 16, 1920.

Besides her sorrowing children she leaves to mourn her death her brother: Adoloph Moeller of this city, two brothers and one sister in Germany; 36 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Her funeral was held from the Charles Kolls home in Hanover township, Monday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. William Frese officiated and interment followed in the Charter Oak cemetery.
