Edward Ott, a resident of Davenport practically his entire life, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 1937 Claussen street, after a lingering illness.

Mr. Ott was born in Davenport, July 14, 1855, and received his education in the local schools. He was married to Miss Mary Schuett in 1875, and the couple resided on a farm in Crawford county for a number of years. She preceded him in death 41 years ago. On Oct. 17, 1899, he was married to Mrs. Anna Petersen at Davenport and had resided here since. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran church.

Surviving besides the widow are, three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Gertz of Davenport; Mrs. Anna Johnson of Independence, Mo.; Mrs. Jessie Volsch of Hartford, S.D.; one son, Adolph of Granite Falls, Minn.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Amanda Ohl, of Davenport; two brothers, William of Everly, Iowa, and Henry of Davenport; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Scherer, of Denver, Colo.; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gertz, 1719 East Locust street. The remains will be incinerated at the Davenport Crematorium.
