Iowa Plain Dealer August 1, 1889

From the Observer, Vail, Crawford county, Iowa, we learn that Jas. F. Long died at that place, July 15th, aged 56 years and 9 months. He was a former resident of Vernon Springs, where he conducted a shoe shop. He has a brother living in Howard Center, Mr. Lawrence Long. He leaves a widow and two grown children, the daughter married, all in good circumstances financially. We knew him well as a man and a Mason and know him to have been worthy the tribute of respect paid him by his neighbors and Masonic brothers.
