Leonard F. "Bill" Kroll, 91, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at a local nursing home following a brief illness.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Russell Senstad and David Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Kroll was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Mapleton, Iowa. He attended school in Kiron, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City in 1935 and had resided here ever since.

It was in 1936 that he married Georgia Phinney in Sioux City. She passed away in 1978. He later married Dorothea M. Staudt on April 21, 1982. She passed away July 21, 2002 in Sioux City. He was employed as a stationary engineer and retired from F.W. Means here in Sioux City.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1935 and was active in various offices. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, most sports and animals of all nature. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara and Don Jorgensen of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Don and Jamie Jorgensen of Sloan, Iowa, Dawn and Tom Markowsky of Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., and Kristin and Arturo Lopez of New Berlin, Wis.; and four great-grandchildren, Michael and T.J. Markowsky and Kendra and Blake Jorgensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; and two brothers, Henry and Ben Kroll.

Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church in his name.
