RICKETTS, Iowa - Clara Dorothea Kroll, 98, of Ricketts died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Willow Dale Center in Battle Creek, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier Township, rural Ricketts, with the Rev. Eugene Ernst officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Mrs. Kroll was born Aug. 28, 1902, in Panama, Iowa, the daughter of Marcus and Bertha (Grube) Kock. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended schools in the Ute, Iowa area and attended sewing school in Ute. She worked in various homes in the Ute area.

She married Frank Henry Kroll on March 30, 1922, in Ute. The couple farmed near Ute for 25 years, then moved to a farm near Denison, Iowa. In 1948, they moved to a farm near Ricketts. In 1952, they retired and moved into Ricketts. Her husband died Aug. 1, 1974. While living in Ricketts, she was employed with the bowling alley, cafe, baby-sat and made quilts and crocheted. She entered Willow Dale Care Center in 1986.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and an honorary member of Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosie Goslar of Ute, Selma and her husband, Raymond Reincke of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Elvera and her husband, Edgar Meseck of Schleswig, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella Zediker of Whiting, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Alice Kock of Schleswig; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, August, John and Albert; two sisters, Marguerite Olson and Effel Hein; two grandsons, Francis Meseck and Allan Reincke; and a son-in-law, Earl Goslar
