Eva Marie Fischer Nobiling was born April 24, 1916, the daughter of William J. and Nettie Eike Fischer. She died Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa at the age of ninety-one.

Eva was born on a farm Southeast of Aspinwall, Iowa. As a child, her family moved to Washington Township in Carroll County, where she attended rural school on the old O.C.O. road between Manning and Arcadia and later, attended Arcadia High School. After school, she began working in various family homes. On September 6, 1934, she was united in marriage to Elmer Nobiling at the Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage in Arcadia, Iowa by Rev. Theo Tews. The couple made their first home near Wall Lake and were blessed with the birth of seven children. In 1950, the couple purchased a farm north of Westside, and upon retirement, moved into town in Westside in 1975.

She was very busy as a homemaker and mother, as well as helping with chores as a farm wife. Through the years, Church was very important to her, and she was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. Eva was very involved in her church as a member of their Ladies Aid, in which she held several officer positions. She was also on the Westside Cemetery Association. Eva enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and weaving rugs on her loom. Her favorite activities included playing bingo, cards, and listening to old-time musical entertainment. She entered the Manilla Manor in June of 1998 and enjoyed watching television, reading and visiting with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; one son, David; three grandchildren, Jamie and Ben Nobiling, and Carol Hansman, all in infancy; her sister, Julia Rowedder; and her brother, Roy Fischer. She is survived by six children, Lee and his wife, Luetta of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Edna Hansman and her husband, Donald of Westside; Clayton Nobiling of Denison; Karen Onken and her husband, Doyle of Jamaica, Iowa; Ruth Stewart and her husband, Roy of Finksburg, Maryland; and Dale and his wife, Roxanne of Council Bluffs; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Fischer of Brainard, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 19, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Rev. Paul Frank officiated the services and grave side rites held at Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art," "Here I Am, Lord," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren an Richard Fischer. Those serving as Pallbearers were Robert Grundmeier, Mark Nobiling, Lowell Stammer, James Hill, Stanley Grundmeier, Donald Nobiling, and Jerry Nobiling. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Westside was in charge of the arrangements.
