Donald Weston Lochmiller was born December 2, 1922 in East Boyer Township, the son of William F. Lochmiller and Ida E. Meyer Lochmiller. He died June 21, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of eighty-four.

Donald attended East Boyer Center School No. 5 in East Boyer Township. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1938. After completing his education, he helped on the family farm until he began farming on his own in later life. He was proud of the fact that he spent his entire life on the family farm.

Donald Lochmiller and Jennie Langer were united in marriage on November 21, 1951 at the Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple remained on the family farm for nearly 56 years. Two children were born to this union.

He had a great interest in current events, soil conservation, crops, and weather conditions. He was truly a man of the soil. He found great satisfaction doing all his own machinery repair work. He also enjoyed sports and was a great Cardinal fan. He was very proud of the fact that he could attend a St. Louis Cardinal World Series game in St. Louis in 1942.

Donald was a good neighbor and was always willing to help others. In later years, Donald put up a valiant battle dealing with renal failure. He was on home dialysis for nearly eight years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold in 1979; three sisters-in-law Garnet Rath and her husband, Robert; and Joan and Elaine Langer. Survivors include his wife, Jennie; one son, Grant and a daughter, Martha Harris; two granddaughters, Rachel and Kristi Harris; two brothers-in-law, Ken Langer of Des Moines and John Langer of Jefferson, South Dakota; one niece, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Brian Rihner officiated the services and grave side rites held at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Eldon Hardekopf provided the service music as he sang "In the Garden," and "Just as I Am." Those serving as pallbearers were Dale Schneider, John Langer, Jack Rath, Dennis Huebner, Walter Huebner, and Robert Janett. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the United Presbyterian Women. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
