LeRoy Glen DeMey, 79, of Sioux City died Monday July 30, 2007 at the Indian Hills Hospice.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Visitation at the church 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. David Zerpel will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Dow City, Iowa.

LeRoy was born on July 11, 1928 in Crawford County, Ia. the son of Willaim and Laura (Namanny) DeMey. He was raised in the Denison, Iowa area. He married Shirley J. Christiansen on April 12, 1944 in Sioux City. He worked on farms in the Crawford County area for several years. The couple moved to Sioux City. He worked for the Sioux City Stock Yards for 44 years until retirement.

He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

LeRoy loved to garden and he loved spending time with his dog, Susie.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Sioux City, 6 children, Sharon Brandt of Sioux Falls, S.D., Lanny DeMey and his special friend Mary Harvey of Denison, Ia., Laurie and Bill Soule of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lisa DeMey and her special friend, Ramon Camacho of Sioux City, Steven DeMey of Sioux City, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, a sister, Irene Ernest of Ames, Ia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Roger DeMey, grandson, Christopher Brandt, great granddaughter, Jessica Brandt, 1 sister and 4 brothers.
