Mary Beth Visser Santacruz, 20, of Ottumwa, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at the Ottumwa Regional Medical Center, Ottumwa, the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born February 5, 1987 at Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Mark and Brenda McBeth Visser. She grew up in Denison and graduated from the Denison High School with the class of 2005. She also received her Certified Nurse Aide training and degree from Western Iowa Tech. She worked at the Denison Care Center. She moved from Denison to Ottumwa a year and a half ago, and worked at the Ottumwa Manor.

Her family includes her mother, Brenda Visser-McBeth of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her father: Mark Visser of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; a brother: Mark Visser, Jr. of Oskaloosa; three sisters: Sarah Visser and Emily Visser, both of Des Moines, and Rayana Visser of Oskaloosa; her stepfather: Kerry Mohr of Newton; her maternal grandmother: Karen McBeth and maternal grandfather: L. E. "Sonny" McBeth, both of Oskaloosa; her paternal grandfather: Martin Visser of Oskaloosa; her great grandmother: Mary Riley of University Park, Iowa; a special niece: Lillyana Visser of Des Moines; and her very special friend, Lucas "Manuel" Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Velda Visser; and her great grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Dwayne Poe officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the funeral chapel on Wednesday after 3 p.m., and the family will be present Wednesday from 5 - 7:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be designated to the Mary Visser Santacruz Memorial Fund.
