Thomas W. Austin, (Tom Cat) 55 of Denison, IA. will be at 1:00 pm Monday, August 13, at Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont, MN. Pastor Richard Abel will be officiating and military honors by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Marin County V.F.W. Post 1222. A luncheon will follow at the Lincoln Park shelter house in Fairmont.

Thomas died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, IA. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Thomas Warren Austin was born on April 12, 1952 in Martin County, the son of Orville and Virginia (Simon) Austin. He attended school in Fairmont, Petersburg, and graduated from Welcome High School in 1972. He enlisted in the U.S. Nsvy in 1972 and served four years before being honorable discharged in 1976. He marred Kathy Haper on September 19, 1981 and they had two sons, Benjamin and Charles. He was later divorced. In Dec. 1997 he moved to Denison, Iowa and lived with Gloria Kuehnhold and worked for her at the Denison Disposal Service.

He is survived by his special friend, Gloria Kuehnhold of Denison, IA; two sons, Benjamin and Charles Austin; parents, Orville and Virginia Austin of Fairmont; one sister, Prudence Murphy and her husband, Patrick, of Fairmont; three brothers, Daniel Austin of San Clemente, CA, Lanny Austin of Columbus, OH, Joel Austin of Jackson, MN; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends in Denison, Arnolds Park, and Fairmont. He was preceded in death by one infant brother. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Crawford County Hospice Program. In case of inclimate weather on Monday, the graveside service will be moved to the First Congregational Church in Fairmont at 1:00 pm Monday.
