Theresa Louise Tait was born October 3, 1920, the daughter of Julius and Amanda Hollander Petersen. She died Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at her home in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-six.

Theresa was born in Alexandria, South Dakota and was an orphan of Woodbury County. In later years, Theresa was adopted by Julius and Amanda Petersen and grew up on farms near Cushing and Vail, Iowa. She graduated from the Vail High School with the class of 1940. After graduation, she went to Chicago to attend a business college. In September of 1942, Theresa was united in marriage to Joseph A. Doviat in Chicago, Illinois where the couple made their home. Joseph died in 1970 and Theresa remained in Chicago working as a bookkeeper and an auditor. On December 18, 1979, Theresa was united in marriage to Harold Tait in Chicago. The couple remained in Chicago until 1981, when they moved to Denison. Harold died in April of 2001.

She was a wonderful aunt who enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She was very fond of Parakeets and her dogs, Penny, Holly, GiGi, and Missy. Through the years, she enjoyed fishing vacations with her husbands, and spending summers in Ely, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Joseph and Harold; her brother, Harold; one sister, Lucille Gallagher; and her husband, Leonard. She is survived by seeral nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and inurnment at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch at Cronk's Café in Denison. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
