Chester F. Ogren, age 87, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Patricia Underberg will officiate, with burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery in Kiron. Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Odebolt, Iowa.

Born November 23, 1919, in Kiron, Iowa, Chester Franklin Ogren was the son of Frank and Minnie (Peterson) Ogren. He grew up and received his education in the Kiron area, graduating from Kiron High School in 1937. Chester served in the United States Air Force for three years during World War II, then returned to Iowa where he farmed the home place north of Kiron. In addition to farming, Chester fed cattle and also was a sales representative for DeKalb Seed Corn Company, earning several awards and trips for his efforts.

He was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, serving in many capacities over the years, including as a board member of Bethel Cemetery. He also was a member of the American Legion. Chester was well known throughout the area and will be remembered for his love of the land and of the people with whom he associated.

Survivors include four brothers, Allen Ogren of Odebolt, William (Betty) Ogren of Philadelphia, PA, Bob (Marina) Ogren of Las Vegas, NV, and John (Virginia) Ogren of San Marcos, CA; a sister, Frances Soli of Denver, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
