Marion Block was born June 4, 1922 the daughter of Albert Walter and Ida Weiss Deiber. She died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-four.

Marion was born on a farm near Buck Grove, Iowa and received her education in a rural school near her home. She was baptized in Christ, December 20, 1922 and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith, November 5, 1944.

On February 20, 1946, Marion was united in marriage to Meinhard Block in Buck Grove. The couple made their home on a farm until moving to Denison in April 1972. She moved to Eventide in 2001.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She was a very gracious lady who loved her family and enjoyed baking and cooking for them and was very conscientious about caring for her home. Marion enjoyed socializing with close friends and family. She corresponded with radio stations to compliment them on their programming projects. In her free time she enjoyed painting on porcelain plates and scrap booking newspaper clippings and photographs. In her younger years she enjoyed playing the guitar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987, one sister, Laverne Deiber in her youth; two brothers, Wallace and Glen and her step-mother, Leona Deiber. Survivors include three brothers, Lloyd Deiber and his wife, Janice of Denison; Alan Deiber and his wife, Linda of Omaha; Ronald Deiber and his wife, Carol of Alta; two sisters-in-law, Bernadine Deiber of Denison; Lois Deiber of Sioux City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me," "Just As I Am, Without One Plea," and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus." Those serving as pallbearers were: Stanley Deiber, Lucas Deiber, Terry Deiber, Nathan Deiber, Matt Deiber, and Tim Deiber. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
