Alan Clark Johnson was born at Fort Worth, Texas on February 6, 1947, the son of Charles and Glenna Dumdei Johnson. The family resided where his fathers military career led them. He was graduated from high school in 1965 and then attended Midwestern College in Denison, Iowa, for one year before being drafted.

From August 4, 1966, until his discharge on July 29, 1968, Alan served his country in Vietnam in the United States Army. Following his discharge he returned to Denison.

On November 2, 1968, Alan was united in marriage with Lois Riessen at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. They made their home in Denison and their union was blessed with two children, Mark and Michelle. In 1982 he enrolled in the Western Iowa Tech Welding Program in Sioux City, Iowa from which he graduated. Alan was employed for area construction companies until his health no longer permitted.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed his dog, Belcher.

Alan died at his home in Buck Grove, Iowa on Monday, November 27, 2006. At the time of his death he had been blessed with 59 years, 3 months and 14 days.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Charles Johnson, step-father, Danny Ferrone and his father-in-law, Raymond Riessen.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Lois, one son, Mark Johnson and friend, Deb of Ankeny, Iowa, one daughter, Michelle and husband, Lance Means of Ida Grove, Iowa, one step-grandson, Dominic Means of Ida Grove, Iowa, his mother, Glenna Ferrone of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, step-mother, Vera Johnson of Lamar, Colorado, mother-in-law, Elvira Riessen of Denison, Iowa, one brother, Philip Ferrone and wife, Cathy of Blair, Nebraska, one sister, Janie Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, three nieces and one nephew, Jackie, Trish, Jessica and Kevin, two half brothers, Jerry and Jim Johnson and their families of Montana, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Committal Services and burial were held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2006, with Dan Pfannebecker serving as speaker. Pallbearers included Allen Thams, John DeConnick, Terry Kolln, Barry Kelm, Mark Shives and Rodger Blanchard. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 8, Denison, Iowa.

The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
