Paul "Junior" Thomsen of Dow City, Iowa died December 3, 2006 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital at the age of sixty-five.

Junior was born May 29, 1941 to Paul and Arlene Keiner Thomsen on the family farm just outside of Arion, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on August 31, 1941 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. On February 3, 1998 he was united in marriage to Connie Crilly at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Junior had many hobbies and interests in life. He loved being outdoors, farming, hunting, decorating for the holidays and camping. When he wasn't outdoors he enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. In addition to farming, he worked for the railroad, Millard Warehouse and Farm Service Coop.

Junior's last day on earth was filled with one of the things he enjoyed most: deer hunting with friends and family. His favorite saying is "Doodie Do Do" and often included that when joking and socializing with friends and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters; Carol Lou Thomsen, Mary Ann Thomsen, and his father-in-law; Louis Jepsen. Left to mourn for Junior include: his wife, Connie; three step-sons; Craig Crilly and his wife Amy of Harlan, Iowa, Karis Crilly and his wife Cara of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Corey Crilly of Dow City, five step-grandchildren; Jazmine, Jonah, Jack, Nolan, and Claire Crilly, two sisters; Paulene and her husband Dean Martinson of Denison, and Diane and her husband Pat McCaffery of Denison, four brothers; LaVene Thomsen and his wife Judy of Denison, John Thomsen and his wife Barb of Dow City, Victor Thomsen and his wife Tina of Dow City, and Charles Thomsen of Dow City, his mother-in-law; Helen Jepsen of Denison, and a sister-in-law; Roseann Gorden of Dow City, nineteen nieces and nephews, twenty-six great nieces and nephews, six great-great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Loeschen officiated the services and grave side rites held at the Dow City Cemetery in Dow City, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Craig Crilly as he sang, "In the Garden," and "On Eagle's Wings." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were: Jazmine Crilly, Jonah Crilly, Jack Crilly, Nolan Crilly, and Claire Crilly. Those serving as pallbearers were: Richard Thomsen, Steve Thomsen, Greg Thomsen, Ken Thomsen, Dean Thomsen, Dan McCaffery, Dale Thomsen, and Don DeMey. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Dow City Community Building served by the Bethlehem Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
