Anna Marie (Heide) Rothe, 82, of Denison, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at her home in Denison.

Anna Marie (Heide) Rothe was born March 26, 1924 in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Watke) Heide. She was raised in Denison and baptized and confirmed in 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church.

She graduated from Denison High School in 1942. Anna married Elmer Rothe on April 16, 1942 in Rockport, Missouri. They lived most of their 47 years of marriage in Denison. To this union they brought six children out of love. Anna is remembered for her years of bookkeeping for Elmer when they ran the Deep Rock gas station, cooking at Headstart in Denison, and playing "BINGO."

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, one sister Alberta, and two brothers Axel and Alvin.

She is survived by her six children: Rodonna and her husband Fred Neumann of Westside, Ron and his wife Pat of Denison, Jane Rothe Hagge of Vail, Dave of Denison, Roger and his wife Lois of Denison, Deb and her husband Frank Wright of Brandon, South Dakota. Also surviving Anna are 13 grandchildren: Greg Neumann of Westside, Randy Neumann and his wife Monica of Westside, Kevin Neumann and his wife Paula of Adel, Iowa, Ryan Neumann and his wife Kate of Westside, Christina and her husband Ben Rich of Edmonton, Canada, Hillary and Tanner Hagge of Vail, Michael, Derek, and Brian Rothe of Denison, George, Grace, and Henry Wright of Brandon, South Dakota; 10 great-grandchildren Nick, Ashley, Colton, Travis, Markus, Emily, Justin, Wyatt, Riley, and Emmet. A sister in law Grace Lorenzen and her husband Louie of Omaha, Nebraska and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Denison. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Lewis Meyer as he sang, "How Great Thou Art," and for the congregational hymns, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those serving as pallbearers were: Randy Neumann, Ryan Neumann, Michael Rothe, Kevin Neumann, Greg Neumann, and Arnie Heide. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served at the Vail Community Building by Hy-Vee Catering. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
