Harvey Carl Miller was born May 9, 1914, the son of Carl and Minnie Bohlmann Miller. He died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of ninety-two.

Harvey was born in Hanover Township near Ricketts, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on June 14, 1914 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, Charter Oak, Iowa and confirmed there on April 4, 1929. He received his education in a rural school near his home. Harvey entered the United States Army on April 23, 1941, serving his country until receiving his honorable discharge on May 14, 1943.

On September 21, 1954 he was united in marriage to Betty Butler in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple settled on his family farm in Hanover Township and were blessed with the birth of one daughter, Beverly.

In 1965, the couple moved to Denison and Harvey began working for Bohlmann Inc. where he worked for forty years. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved his granddaughters very much. In his spare time, Harvey enjoyed fishing, woodworking and refinishing furniture and polka dancing with Betty. He was a hard worker and took pride in taking care of his home. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and the Denison American Legion Post 8.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; two sisters: Adelia Schultz and her husband, Paul; and Edna Moore and her husband, Orville; and one sister-in-law, Viola Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Vandenhull and her special friend, Tom Miller of Denison; two granddaughters: Diana Vandenhull and her fiance, Rick Bauer, and Kacie Vandenhull, all of Denison; one sister, Hilda Miller and one brother, Carl Miller, both of Denison; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29,2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns, "How Great Thou Art," "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "Amazing Grace." Those serving as pallbearers were: Gary Vandenhull, Tom Miller, Rick Bauer, Dennis Huebner, Milfred Nemitz, and Adam Gosch. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 8 of Denison, Iowa. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Dorcas Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
