Andrew Spreng died October 5, 2006 at the age of 79 in Reno, Nev., where he had lived for the past 14 years.

He was born April 26, 1927 to Eva Marie and Ernest Spreng in Arion, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Dow City, Iowa. He attended Paradise Township School near Dow City and graduated from the 8th grade there.

Andrew joined the Merchant Marines and after several years came home to work with his brother Albert at the Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Company. Later he went back into the Merchant Marines for the rest of his working life until he retired in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Lillian Spreng, Emma Wyckoff, and Margaret Rood and three brothers; Charles Spreng, Elmer (Swede) Spreng, and Albert Spreng.

He is survived by two sisters; Grace Lorenzen of Omaha, Nebraska and Gladys Fox of Hillsboro, Oregon and a brother Walter Spreng of Hillsboro, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.
