Delwyn Dale Brede, age 69 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, October 8, 2006 after a battle with cancer. He was born December 5, 1936 to Lawrence Dale and Leona Arlene Halfpop Brede in Klemme, Iowa.

Del, the youngest of two children, grew up in Klemme where he graduated from Klemme High School in 1954. He attended college at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. On February 12, 1956 he was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Pettibone in Moravia, Iowa and to this union, five children were born. Del lived many places including Moravia, Garner, Sheffield, Iowa Falls, Schleswig, Glenwood and Council Bluffs, Iowa as well as Swey City and Fairmont, Minnesota and Morton and Putnam, Illinois.

Del was a farmer, salesman, pork and cattle producer and land developer. He retired from Iowa Beef Packers in 1999.

Del married Paula Anderson on March 27, 1999 at the Kanesville Tabernacle in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 2002 he moved from Council Bluffs to Butler. His memberships included the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, NRA, Pork Producers Association, 4-H and Farm Bureau. Del was a Master Mason. He began his Masonic association at the Antiquity Lodge in Moravia and was in the process of transferring his membership to Butler Lodge #254.

Del was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. His passion was bird huntingespecially turkey, pheasant and quail. He also enjoyed trout fishing, wild boar hunting, gardening and growing flowers. Del was generous, courageous, never afraid to try something new and he always accomplished anything that he put his mind to.

Del is survived by his wife, Paula Brede of Butler, Missouri; five children, Gieselle Fest and husband Darwin of Liberty, Missouri, Greg Brede of Springfield, Missouri, Georgia Ipsen and husband David of Nixa, Missouri, Gordon Brede and wife Natalie of Halfway, Missouri and Ginger Pietz and husband Russell of Aberdeen, South Dakota; one stepdaughter, Michelle Hirl of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Judy McClure and husband Dale of St. Charles, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Larson, Kerstina (Carrie) Alexander and husband Matt, Jacob and Cassandra Brede, Joseph Ipsen, Chad, Dallas and Dakota Brede, Bailey, Abigail and Rylie Pietz; one great-grandson, Maxwell Alexander; and parents-in-law, Yubby and Melva Anderson of Aurelia, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Ohio Street United Methodist Church in Butler with Rev. James Stanfield-Myers officiating. Masonic services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions to the Masonic Lodge or Charity of Choice. Services were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.
