W. C. Conover of Low Moor Dies Thursday
W. C. Conover, a long-time resident of Low Moor, passed away last evening at 9 o’clock at the family residence in that city. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Low Moor M. E. church with interment in Prairie Union cemetery.
Born in Montgomery county, N. Y., Mr. Conover came to Iowa with his parents in 1865. Since his advent in the state at the age of nine years he had made his residence here and for the past 60 years was active in the business interests of Low Moor. The I. O. O. F. fraternity was the only one with which he was identified.
He was married in October, 1880 to Miss Carrie A. Huston, a daughter of one of the pioneer families of the county. His widow survives with four sons and three daughters to comfort her declining years – F. E. Conover, T. H. Conover and Miss Mildred Conover of Low Moor; A. R. Conover and W. C. Conover, Jr., of Minneapolis; Mrs. Ralph Dannatt of Long Grove, and Mrs. B. H. Dann of Low Moor.
The influence of this man of sterling qualities and of his children is a factor in the development of Clinton county.
