WEST BEND, Wis. — Lucille J. Howson, 89, of West Bend, died Wednesday at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie Union Cemetery near Low Moor.
She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Clinton to Herman and Helen Chatterton Goers. She married Roy E. Howson on June 19, 1938, in Low Moor. He died in 1999.
She and her husband moved to Beloit, Wis., in 1938 where they resided for 28 years.
She was active as a Pythian Sister with Beloit Lodge 40. She became grand chief for the state of Wisconsin in 1955 and ’56.
In 1964, she was crowned Beloit Credit Woman of the Year. In 1966, she and her husband moved to West Bend where she was employed with the West Bend Co. She retired in 1979. In 1981, she organized West Bend Women’s Retirees Group.
She was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dick (Linda) Howson of Redmond, Wash., and Roy Howson Jr. of South Beloit, Ill.; two sisters, Marian Johnston of Clinton and Hannabelle Cork of Danville, Ill.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Cedar Community Hospice.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
