Maxine E. Gladhill

Maxine E. Gladhill, age 83 of Clinton, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Parish - Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be Sunday 2-6 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, where a 5:30 PM rosary will be recited. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill, Bob, Dan, and Tom Klahn, Peter Scarano, and Louis Ronnfeldt.

Maxine was born on Nov. 28, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Louis and Isabelle (Horwath) Nickelsen. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1941 and attended the Scoville Business College in Clinton. She married Charles Gladhill on Oct. 17, 1946 in Clinton, IA; he died in 1998. She had worked at the Clinton National Bank as a bank processor and for the A.C. Nielson Co. for over 15 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, the Alter Rosary Society, and the Clinton Fireman‚s Auxiliary. She enjoyed writing, her cats, puzzle books, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Gladhill of Buffalo, NY and Mrs. Marsha (Orlin) Campbell of Clinton, who resided with Maxine in her home; five grandchildren, Jennifer Petersen, Charles and Rachael Parsons, Christopher and Erin Bray; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Kimberly, Danny, and Sophie. She was preceded in death by her parents.
