Lyle DeLoe

Lyle Edward DeLoe, 76, of Sacramento, died Feb. 6.

He was born in Clinton and grew up in Morrison, Ill. He was married to Phyllis Claudia DeLoe for 53 years.

Funeral services were Feb. 9 at East Lawn Cemetery, Sacramento. The Harry A. Nauman and Son Funeral Chapel, Sacramento, was in charge of arrangements.

He graduated from Morrison High School in 1947. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from the University of California-Berkeley in 1958. He attended the University of Illinois College of Engineering from 1947 to 1949.

He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1958. He was a radar navigation instructor.

He was an engineer with the General Motors Electronics Division in London and also in Milwaukee; project director with Aerojet General, Sacramento; and president of Associated Supply, Sacramento.

He was a member of Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honor society; Pi Tau Sigma, a mechanical engineering honor society; Alpha Pi Mu, industrial engineering honor society (founding member); University Club; Commodore, Sacramento Yacht Club 1994; and International Order of the Blue Gavel.

He targeted the guidance of U.S. nuclear ballistic missiles.

Survivors include two sons, Derek Edward DeLoe of Seattle and Dean Brian DeLoe of Stamford, Conn.; sisters, Norma DeLoe Coy of Medina, Ohio, and Janet DeLoe Habben of Sterling, Ill.; three grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.

Death date: Feb. 6, 2006
