Geradus Vogel

FULTON, Ill. — Geradus Vogel, 85, of Fulton, died Thursday at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Second Reformed Church, Fulton, preceded by a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service. The Revs. Scott Stephan, pastor of Second Reformed Church, and Wendell Davelaar, pastor of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bull, Keith, Andy and Ben Vogel, Jeremy Wiersema, Paul and Ron Vogel, Bob and Roger Norman, Leroy, Glen Jr. and Dwayne Gray.

He was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Fulton to Martin J. and Nellie Wierenga Vogel. He married Ruth Norman on Feb. 8, 1946, in Fulton.

He attended Fulton High School.

He was a member of Second Reformed Church and served as a deacon and elder. He sang in the church’s choir, taught Sunday school, was a RCYF leader and a member of the Men’s Brotherhood. He volunteered at the Fulton Food Pantry and delivered Meals On Wheels.

He farmed in rural Whiteside and Carroll counties until retiring in 1983. He then worked with his son-in-law doing custom combining.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Judy (Wilson) Bull of DeWitt; one son, Arnie (Pam) Vogel of Fulton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Second Reformed Church.
