Stephen R. Aykroyd

NILES, Mich. — Stephen R. Aykroyd, 58, of Niles, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Niles, with the Rev. Joseph McCormick, OSA, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mount Olivent Mausoleum, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born March 13, 1947, in Clinton to Albert Victor and Jeanette Rust Aykroyd. He married Carla S. Holscher on Aug. 24, 1968, in Waterloo.

He lived in Niles for 21 years. Prior to that, he lived in Saundertown, R.I.

He graduated from the University of Rhode Island; where he received a master’s degree.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Niles.

He worked as human resource manager with Sundstrand, Dowagiac, Mich.; Wollin Products, Stevensville, Mich.; and North American Lighting Inc., Terre Haute, Ind., and Farmington Hills, Mich.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jeff (Jennifer) Aykroyd of Tucson, Ariz., Dan (Jenny) Aykroyd of Westfield, Ind., and Tim (Laura Korth) Aykroyd of St. Joseph, Mich.; three grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Janice M. Holscher of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
