SAVANNA, Ill. — Gerald Lee LaShelle, 71, of Savanna, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administra-tion Medical Center, Knoxville.
A private memorial service will be held at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Inurnment will be at a later date. The Rev. Robert Bridges, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Savanna, will be officiating.
He was born Nov. 19, 1934, to Wilmer Jess “Pete” and Jean Morgan LaShelle in Savanna.
He graduated from Savanna High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He worked with the Savanna Police Department for several years, Carroll County (Ill.) Sheriff’s Office as an auxiliary deputy for eight years, Illinois Department of Conservation and spent time as a commercial fisherman in Savanna. He also lived and worked in Las Vegas driving a limousine.
Survivors include one brother, James (Judith) LaShelle of McHenry, Ill.; and several cousins.
